Candid Candy Hearts are a love letter to the little pastel candies we grew up with, and a reality check for adulthood. Inspired by the classic Conversation Hearts first introduced in the early 1900s, this series reimagines those sugary one-liners through a modern lens: emotional boundaries, messy lives, chosen family, humor as survival, and love that looks nothing like the movies. These cards keep the charm of the original candies while saying the things we actually mean now.
Each design balances nostalgia with wit, turning familiar candy-heart shapes into tiny declarations of truth. Originally created in 2018 for a last-minute Valentine’s installation at Neiman Marcus’ flagship store in Dallas, the Candid Candy Hearts quickly became a fan favorite and a permanent part of Christopher Box’s art catalog.
